The festival, the second such event, witnessed the display of the cultures of the local chiefs and queenmothers as well as court members parading through the streets of Nima, a suburb of Accra accompanied with traditional rhythmic renditions of the various groupings. Truly it was a great festive occasion for the people of Awayaso communities as they celebrate the rich,diverse culture of the various tribes in the district. The festival also serves as a great homecoming for citizens of the district and serves as tourist attraction. Hon. Catherine Afeku, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, speaking as the guest of honour, said the Ministry had initiated a number of projects to develop and market Ghana’s tourism potentials to attract more investments in the tourism sector. The event was graced by His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and ministers of state. The festival celebrates the history, authenticity and culture of Northern Ghana and recognizes the special bond of unity and peace among the Zongo Chiefs.
