As a journalist I decided to takei tt upon myself to advocate for safety awareness before the season starts.
Today, 9th May 2018, the ZongoNews Team in Ghana was on the streets of Accra, the capital, to test the nation’s preparedness towards the incoming season, as well as the NADMO safety measures in place to lprotect street hawkers and the citizens on Ghana. ..
In an interview with some traders in Accra, they expressed concern about the attitude of the National Disaster Management and Ministry of Sanitation towards the impending rainy season.
They urged National Disaster Management (NAMDO) and Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to get its acts right action as soon as possible in order to prevent any occurrence of possible flooding during the raining season this year .
They also called on the sanitation minister to step up his activities to clear the filth’s in the capital to avoid any disaster during the June/July season
The government, should also attend to people’s fears particularly traderes selling on bridges within Greater Accra. There is also the need to create awareness campaigns for the safety of the people during the raining season.
